Florence police arrested Lewis Dean Simpson on April 30th on charges of Third Degree Domestic Violence and Resisting Arrest. On May 1st, at approximately 3:45 p.m., jailers found the 58 year-old Lewis unresponsive in his cell.
According to Sheriff Joe Hamilton, no foul play was in evidence. The body has been sent for an autopsy.
