The family of Amber Streitmatter waited almost exactly five years for a guilty plea in her murder. When Benjamin Andrew Davenport did enter a plea on September 22nd, his sentencing was scheduled for November 7th. For whatever reason, the sentencing didn't take place until this week.
On December 18th, a Colbert Circuit Court judge accepted Davenport's plea and pronounced a life sentence on the confessed murderer. The shooter will at some point be eligible for parole. Davenport remains in the Colbert County Jail awaiting transfer to a state receiving facility.
